This progressive 7 week introductory course is designed for beginners to yoga to help you explore the basics of yoga and develop strength, balance, and flexibility and experience the peace of mind yoga promises.Through this course you will become familiar with conscious yogic breathing, fundamental yoga poses, guided meditation and some yoga philosophy. You will develop a solid a foundation of practice based upon the principles of alignment and the energy body. Upon completion of this series you will be ready to take any level yoga class or develop a safe personal practice tailored to your current age, health and lifestyle. People of every fitness level, from the tri-athlete to the sedentary individual can participate in this course. Patanjali gave us this knowledge of how to achieve Yoga so that every serious practitioner could reach it.
The main text of Classical Yoga is the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.This is where we find the outline for the eight-limbed path of Astanga Yoga. These eight limbs are Yama (restraints), Niyama (observances), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques), Pratyahara (withdrawing the senses), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (complete union).Join Karen Weber for an introduction of the basic philosophy behind the practice of Yoga as we know it today.This 8 week discourse of Patanjali’s Eight-limbed path of Astanga Yoga.
This class is currently being held on a drop in basis until S1 begins. This prenatal yoga class is designed to explore and support the changes to your body during pregnancy. This class will provide students with a safe and gentle approach to yoga appropriate for all trimesters of pregnancy in a nurturing and supportive environment. The class focus special breathing techniques, alignment of the body in yoga postures and opening the hips to prepare the body for birth. Relaxation meditations will also be taught to promote feelings of concentration and focus.

This teen yoga class blends adult-style yoga practice with some of the more playful aspects of kids yoga to create an age-appropriate atmosphere where teens can learn breathing techniques to deal with stress; stretch, tone and strengthen the body; open the heart and mind; and have fun. Teen yoga incorporates music and activities to address the unique needs of teens. Teen Yoga will help balance and nourish the body systems, build confidence, improve posture, strength and balance, and facilitate exploration of the true self in a nurturing and non-competitive environment.
