Tantric Hatha Yoga Class
Designed As Preparation for Sacred Gong Meditation
Friday, August 1, 6:00-7:15pm
Series pass or $15 drop in rate
Tantric hatha yoga is a tradition that focuses on using asana and pranayama to awaken the energy body which resides in the spine and chakra system. The yogic chakra system, as explained by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, consists of seven chakras or energy centers which are depicted as a sort of "spinal column". These chakras or energy centers are considered to be important points for the channelling of consciousness and linking the physical with the spiritual with the aim of achieving greater clarity. This special class sequence is designed to prepare the student for the sacred gong bath meditation by using extension and twists poses to awaken the spine or levels of consciousness. This class will be taught by Lisa and is drop-in basis and appropriate for all levels.

Sacred Gong Bath Meditation
with Kenny Kolter
Friday August 1st, 7:30-8:30pm, $20
Join Kenny Kolter for a sacred gong bath or sound healing experience which will guide students on a powerful sonic meditative journey of meditation and healing. A gong bath is an opportunity to bathe in the healing resonant sound harmonics that a gong creates. Gongs embody the universal sound and basic chordal structure of the eternal Ohm. Participants can let go and just let the gong provide the Ohm mantra, freeing up the mind and the physical body to transcend.  Kenny believes that all people have an innate ability to connect into spirit for self-guidance and self-healing. Sound, both complex and primordial, has a powerful affect on our physiology and allows one to transcend and center into an open, creative, therapeutic, flowing space. In the womb, the first music we heard was our Mother’s heart beat -- soothing, constant, nourishing and pulsing safety. These sessions are designed to offer individuals an opportunity to meditate/pray and self-heal utilizing sound as a backdrop to explore inward. This event is drop-in basis and is open to all students. There will be no yoga practice at this event. Please feel free to bring a pillow and blanet to lay on for comfort.

Kenny lives in Buffalo Grove, IL and has been practicing Transcendental Meditation since age 12. He graduated from Maharishi International University with a B.A. in Comparative Literature where I was steeped in Ayurvedic (health) and Gandharva Veda (music) learning. He has been playing drums and percussion since age 9 and have traveled and performed internationally as a professional musician. I have attended & staffed the New Warrior, Pathways, Actualizations, & Drieukers Global seminars and been a seeker/healer-sound practitioner my entire life.  Because of his experience as a percussionist his approach to gong meditation with a subtle rhythmic quality, teasing out the vast array of tones, harmonics & shimmering nuances that reside within the instrument. The result is that these sonic, mystical characteristics provide a vehicle for deepening levels of clarity and consciousness. This event is drop-in basis and is open to all students. There will be no yoga practice at this event. Please feel free to bring a pillow and blanet to lay on for comfort.

Restorative Yoga

Friday Nights, 7:30-9:00pm

Sept 19, Oct 17, Nov 21, Dec 12th

$15, Registration Required By Noon Day of Event

This monthly restorative yoga class is for those times when you feel weak, fatigued, or stressed from your daily activities. Restorative yoga classes are especially beneficial for the times before, during, and after major life events: death of a loved one, change of job or residence, marriage, divorce, major holidays, and vacations. In addition, you can practice the poses when ill, or recovering from illness or injury.

Restorative yoga poses are "active relaxation." By supporting the body with props, we alternately stimulate and relax the body to move toward balance. Some poses have an overall benefit. Others target an individual part, such as the lungs, heart, kidney, or liver, etc. All create specific physiological responses which are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress-related disease. This class will be taught by Lisa and is appropriate for all levels of students.
