What is Yoga Therapy?
Although relatively new outside of India, Yoga for therapeutic purpose has a long, rich history. Using an individualized approach, Yoga Therapy employs a range of tools and methods not generally used in group yoga classes. Movement, breath techniques, and meditative practices, are combined with lifestyle and attitude changes, as well as general outlooks on life.
Yoga Therapy addresses many physical, emotional and psychological health challenges by working with the basic premise that we all develop patterns and habits in our bodies and minds. Yoga Therapy helps you increase awareness of these patterns and guides your personal change to move to a healthier place.
We work with you, within the context of your life, developing a personal practice designed to help you grow as an individual and move through the challenges you may be facing.
Research has shown yoga to be an effective complementary therapy for reducing stress, the root cause of many common diseases. Yoga Therapy adapts your physical practice into treatment that is specific to your body and to your health and wellness concerns. This form of healing yoga combines asana, breath, and meditation into a practice that is grounded in a personal intention for healing.
The symptoms of stress, back pain, arthritis, hypertension, asthma, depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, cancers, addictions, and more may be lessened through an intentional, personalized practice of yoga for healing. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, a yoga practitioner will guide you in a practice that brings ease back into your life, opening you up to greater joy.
