Find Confidence in Your Practice: Accessible Yoga Workshops

Yoga mats and blocks at Prana Yoga Center's purple studio

If you’ve ever sat on your yoga mat feeling a little lost—wondering if you’re “doing it right,” silently comparing yourself to the person on the mat next to you, or feeling frustrated by confusing teacher cues—you’re not alone.

Yoga is an incredible practice for mind, body, and spirit, but it can also feel intimidating. The Sanskrit names, the fast-paced sequences, the cues that sound like you need a degree in anatomy to decipher, and the unspoken rules that everyone else in class seems to know—it can all feel like a bit much. And then there are the poses that look effortless on Instagram but seem completely out of reach in your own body.

The good news? Yoga is not meant to be one-size-fits-all. It’s not about touching your toes, twisting yourself into a pretzel, or memorizing complicated terminology. It’s about finding what works for you, in your body, on your mat, in this moment.

This fall, we’re thrilled to offer two special workshops designed to strip away the confusion, bring clarity to your practice, and remind you that yoga truly is for every body. Whether you’re brand new to yoga, navigating an injury, or simply craving a better understanding of what’s happening in class, these workshops are for you.

Workshop 1:
Yoga for Everybody – Accessible Alternatives to Common Yoga Poses

Sunday, September 28
11:15am–12:45pm
with Michelle Mansfield

We’ve all been there. The teacher cues a pose you’ve done dozens of times before—maybe Downward Dog, Warrior II, or Triangle—and suddenly you feel stuck. Something doesn’t feel quite right. Your body isn’t responding the way you hoped. You peek around the room and wonder, Why does everyone else look so comfortable?

In Yoga for Everybody, you’ll spend 90 minutes exploring accessible alternatives to some of the most common poses found in yoga classes. This isn’t about making poses “easier” or “less than.” It’s about finding your version of the pose—the one that feels good in your body and supports your unique needs.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Practical, hands-on options. Learn modifications, use of props, and posture variations that give you freedom instead of frustration.

  • Personalized guidance. Michelle will help you tune into your body, showing you how to recognize when something isn’t working and what to do instead.

  • Confidence to adapt. You’ll walk away knowing that you don’t have to force your body into someone else’s shape of a pose.

Most importantly, you’ll leave with the empowering reminder that it’s still yoga, no matter what it looks like.

Michelle’s compassionate and playful approach ensures this workshop feels safe, supportive, and judgment-free. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, brand new to yoga, or simply ready to feel more confident on the mat, this workshop will give you tools you can take into any class—so you can flow in a way that truly works for you.

Imagine walking into class and knowing you have choices. That you can redefine your edge, own your pose, and enjoy your practice without second-guessing yourself. That’s what Yoga for Everybody is all about.

Workshop 2:
Yoga Clarity – Making Sense of Teacher Cues

Sunday, October 26
12:00pm–1:30pm
with Michelle Mansfield

If you’ve ever heard your yoga teacher say something like “knit your ribs,” “lengthen your sacrum,” or “internally rotate your thigh,” and thought, “What in the world does that mean?”—you are not alone.

Yoga cues are meant to guide you safely and effectively into poses, but sometimes the language feels like code. You want to understand, but the words don’t always connect to what your body is actually doing.

That’s exactly why Michelle created Yoga Clarity.

In this 90-minute workshop, she’ll break down the most common (and confusing) yoga cues into clear, everyday language that actually makes sense. You’ll learn:

  • What your teacher really means. Decipher those tricky anatomical instructions without feeling like you need a medical degree.

  • The how and why of alignment. Understand not just what to do, but why it matters for your body’s safety and strength.

  • Practical application. You’ll take what you learn off the page and into your body with a guided Hatha flow, so you can feel the difference in real time.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a better understanding of key poses, improved alignment, and—most importantly—the confidence to step into any yoga class knowing exactly what’s being asked of you.

No more guessing. No more frustration. Just clarity, confidence, and a deeper connection to your practice.

Why These Workshops Matter

Yoga is a practice that meets us exactly where we are—but it doesn’t always feel that way when we’re in class. We can get caught up in the idea that there’s a “right” way to do yoga, or that everyone else knows the secret handbook we somehow missed.

Michelle’s workshops are designed to break down those barriers.

  • For beginners, they’re a welcoming entry point into the world of yoga—no pressure, no judgment, just practical guidance.

  • For those with injuries, they provide safe and effective alternatives that allow you to keep practicing while honoring your body’s needs.

  • For seasoned practitioners, they offer a fresh perspective that can deepen your understanding and refine your practice.

In short, these workshops are about empowerment. About reminding you that yoga is not about how a pose looks—it’s about how it feels. About giving you permission to adapt, question, and explore until you find what works for you.

About Michelle

Michelle brings warmth, humor, and a down-to-earth approach to her teaching. She knows firsthand that yoga can sometimes feel confusing, intimidating, or overwhelming—and she’s passionate about making it accessible, understandable, and enjoyable for everyone.

Her workshops combine relatable explanations, clear guidance, and plenty of room for questions. With Michelle, you won’t just learn how to do a pose—you’ll learn why it matters, and how to make it your own.

Students often leave her classes feeling lighter, more confident, and more connected to their practice. And above all, they leave with the reminder that yoga isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, breathing, and moving in a way that feels right for you.
