Why Prana
“Prana is a place where teachers genuinely care about the students and the space they hold.”
Michelle values the relationships built in the room. Students show up with consistency and compassion, and teachers take the time to truly get to know the people in their classes—creating a space that feels real, supportive, and connected.
If you ever need a laugh, follow Prana on social media where you will find that “perfectly imperfect” Michelle in some pretty funny reels.

Michelle didn’t come to yoga thinking it would become something meaningful. Like many people, she started taking classes in college and later while living in the city—more as a way to move her body (and maybe stretch out the stress of the day) than anything deeper. Many times it was a way to get together with friends. When she met her husband, she knew he was “the one” when he said yes to join her and her friends in a 100-person heated 90-minute Bikram Yoga class in Boystown.
It wasn’t until she walked into a prenatal yoga class at Prana in 2012 that something shifted. The experience felt different—more grounding, more connected—and something about it stuck in a way she couldn’t quite explain.
After her daughter was born, Michelle found her way back to Prana. What started as simply returning to class slowly grew into something more. Not overnight, and not perfectly—but through showing up, learning, and building relationships with her teachers. Eventually, that connection (and Lisa’s persistence!) led her to pursue Yoga Teacher Training.
Today, Michelle’s teaching reflects that same journey. Her classes are strong, clear, and adaptable, with options offered throughout—because not every body wants (or needs) the same thing on any given day. She’s known for giving 1–2 other ways to approach a pose, so students never feel stuck… or like they missed the memo. And let’s be honest, she needs the other options in her practice herself.
You’ll hear not just what to do, but why—so you can understand your body a little better each time you step on the mat. And if something doesn’t feel right? There’s always another way in.
What makes Michelle’s classes feel especially welcoming is her honesty. She brings her full self into the room—open about her own experiences, quick to laugh, and never pretending the practice has to look perfect to be meaningful. There’s space to try, to wobble, to modify, and to figure things out as you go. If you ever want to feel perfectly imperfect, Michelle brings that to her classes.
Her teaching is also shaped by ongoing education, including a focus on perimenopause and hormonal health. This allows her to support students—especially women navigating these transitions—with greater understanding, practical insight, and a lot of empathy (because, as she knows, some days just feel different).
