Why Prana

“Sometimes what we need most is a space and a community that feels safe, supportive, and welcoming.”

Emily values Prana’s commitment to traditional yoga and its community of thoughtful, well-trained teachers. She sees each student as an individual on their own path and appreciates having a space where that journey is respected and supported.

Beyond the mat, Emily Ford offers personalized Ayurvedic guidance for greater balance and energy.

  • Emily was first drawn to yoga for the physical practice, but after her first class, she left feeling lighter and in a completely different headspace. That experience sparked a deeper curiosity—one that led her into continued study, a steady personal practice, and a deeper exploration of Ayurveda.

What keeps her returning is the feeling of coming home to herself.

Her teaching blends traditional yoga with Ayurvedic wisdom in a grounded, approachable way. Classes are thoughtfully designed around the seasons, time of day, and the natural rhythms of the body, creating a steady progression that supports balance.

There is also space for the practice to shift in real time—meeting students where they are and allowing each class to unfold with intention.

This approach is especially supportive for those building a foundation or deepening an existing practice. With clear guidance and consistent use of props, students are encouraged to explore safely and with confidence.

At the heart of her teaching is a simple understanding: yoga extends beyond the mat and into daily life.

Outside of class, Emily offers Ayurvedic consultations and workshops, helping individuals create supportive daily rhythms that bring more balance and ease.

There is a natural ease to the space she creates. Students are reminded that practice doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful. Some days it’s a full class. Other days, it’s a few quiet moments in stillness.

More often than not, her own practice reflects that same simplicity—sometimes in pajamas, in a reclined butterfly or seated with eyes closed.

And when she’s not on the mat, she enjoys a scoop of cappuccino crunch ice cream from Batavia Creamery—something she happily recommends.
